VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

Recently, tradition has been experiencing a resurgence—not just on the far right, but across society as a whole. This return may be a response to the deconstruction of identity concepts, leaving many feeling uncertain. At the same time, we find ourselves reconsidering how we relate to tradition. On one hand, traditions offer music that resonates with us, beautiful folk costumes, community-building rituals, and special dishes. On the other hand, some rigid traditional cultures can appear daunting, outdated, and stifling.
The era of industrialization in the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century provides the historical context for this tension. It was around this time—about 150 years ago—that the modern concepts of “tradition,” “home,” and “land” began to take form. This is the period we wish to explore. Through music, images, and writings from that time, we can trace a longing for traditional values, often intertwined with fears: the fear of alienation, the fear of being replaced by machines, and a sense of disorientation and loss of belonging.
In Innsbruck, we aim to engage with these uncertainties through the lens of alpine tradition in general and Tyrolean tradition in particular. This will take the form of a site-specific music theater evening, featuring a reinterpretation of Tyrolean cuisine.

fachbetrieb rita grechen ist seit 2015 ein Netzwerk von Künstler*innen in Dresden, Leipzig, München, Wien, Linz, Oslo und Basel. Wir kommen aus den Bereichen Musik, Schauspiel, Regie, Umwelttechnik, Gastronomie, Kostüm- und Bühnenbild.

Sie  wollen  Theater und  Musiktheater  als ortsspezifische, spartenübergreifende,  im  Prozess entstehende  Projekte  denken und über Einzelprojekte hinaus ihre Arbeit als fortlaufende Weiterarbeit an ihrer Arbeitsweise bearbeiten. Dabei soll sich eine gesellschaftliche und physikalische Auseinandersetzung mit der Umwelt ereignen, die die Gesamtheit von Einflüssen anerkennt. Das bedeutet, alle aktiv gestaltenden Elemente ernst zu nehmen, egal, ob es Philosoph*innen, eine Betonwand, ein Schall, ein Geschmack oder ein Gefühl ist.
