VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

        Artist Karin Ferrari explores the emerging trend of DIY spirituality and superstition. At BRUX, she has created a "tricky-trashy" sound and video installation that examines pseudo-sacred architecture. The installation includes the spoken word sound series Travelmyth Fictional Tapes, a collaboration with musician and sound artist Francesco Fonassi. Pseudo-sacred commercial architecture has become a global phenomenon and is also present in Innsbruck. During her research trips to Southeast Asia and the United States, Ferrari documented structures and locations where the boundaries between dream and time, reality and imagination, the sacred and the profane, become indistinct: shopping mall pyramids, financial cathedrals made from glass, monumental banking temples, postmodern temple hotels, Neptunian wellness oases, and Angkor Wat snack bars. What is going on here? What utopian desires are being projected through them, and why? Most importantly, what impact does this have on us?

        Nach dem Studium der Malerei und Kulturwissenschaften an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, war Karin Ferrari zwei Jahre kuratorische Assistentin für Design am MAK in Wien und hat beinahe aufgehört Kunst zu machen, bis sie eines Nachts reptilian shapeshifting news reporter auf YouTube gebinged hat. Seitdem arbeitet sie an ihren Videos DECODING (THE WHOLE TRUTH), eine Serie experimenteller Dokufiktionen, die behaupten versteckte Botschaften in Bildern der globalen Medienkultur aufzudecken. Ferraris Arbeiten sind inspiriert von spekulativen Narrativen im Grenzbereich von Fakt und Fiktion. Ihr Werk wurde international in Museen, Kunstzentren und Galerien gezeigt, im Fernsehen ausgestrahlt und ist auf Ferraris YouTube Kanal veröffentlicht. Please subscribe.
        Ferraris Einzelausstellung ‚Trash Mysticism‘ wurde 2019 im Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum gezeigt. Ihre künstlerische Arbeit wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet. Ferrari hat 2020 den Preis der Stadt Innsbruck für künstlerisches Schaffen erhalten, das Staatsstipendium für Medienkunst, den Benno Barth Award 2019 und den Hauptpreis des RLB Kunstpreis 2018. Im Sommer 2021 wird sie die Installation und Veranstaltungsreihe ‚The New Holy (Shamanic Mall Retreat)‘ im Rahmen der Förderschiene Kunst im Öffentlichen Raum des Landes Tirol in Kollaboration mit der Tiroler Künstler:innenschaft umsetzten. In den letzten Jahren hatte Karin Ferrari verschiedene Forschungs- und Residency-Aufenthalte in den USA, Europa und Südostasien.
