In their project, Animal-Voice Pavilion, Paul Gründorfer and Fabian Lanzmaier have crafted an immersive sound installation that utilizes autonomous systems activated by small-scale electromechanical and digital sound generators arranged in a three-dimensional space. The artists perceive the connections between electronic circuits and digital sound processors as distinct entities, resulting in semi-natural sounds that evoke squeaks, stutters, throbs, and even the sounds of singing autonomous organisms. The voice and speech processes of these entities emerge through various feedback network applications.
By exploring sound as a procedural medium, the work investigates the idea of sound as an independent presence within space. Once activated, the installation is left to its own devices, evolving on its own and allowing visitors to encounter it at various stages of development.
