VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

    The “Rotunde” in Innsbruck’s Saggen district is closed to the public visible only from the outside. A protected landmark, it is slowly falling into disrepair. Nora Jacobs’ idea for a 360° panoramic projection inside the rotunda was inspired by the cycloramas of the 18th and 19th centuries; however, her idea ultimately did not gain traction. The new plan is to build a smaller, mobile version of the rotunda, which will be installed in a public space in Innsbruck and designed to be accessible. Inside this mobile structure, a 360° video projection will depict the horizon. The projection of the horizon evokes an ambivalent feeling, similar to the sensation one might experience on a ship in the open sea or in the midst of a barren desert. The world seems endlessly distant yet strangely close, and a sense of hope for a better future arises when gazing at the horizon.
    On one level, the work is about expressing a longing for vastness and security. On another, it raises questions about the future of the Innsbruck rotunda while highlighting the beauty and significance of this architectural landmark.

    Nora Jacobs, *1984 in Berlin, hält sich in den Bereichen Bildende Kunst, Theater und Film auf. 2004 begann sie ihr Kunststudium an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, damals noch in der Videoklasse bei Peter Kogler. Der Drang selber vor der Kamera zu stehen und performativ im Raum tätig zu werden, veranlasste sie zuerst nach England an die Academy of Circus Arts – Europe’s only traveling circus school zu gehen und danach eine Schauspielausbildung an der Norwegian Theatre Academy in Norwegen zu machen.
    Nora Jacobs arbeitet sowohl als Schauspielerin, Performerin und Videokünstlerin in ihren eigenen Arbeiten als auch für Fremdprojekte. Sie stand unter anderem auf der Bühne für makemake (Dschungel Wien), Bernadette Anzengruber (Brut Wien) Dora García (Wiener Festwochen) Nora Jacobs (Theater Kiel), Heathers (Battersea Arts Center), Christopher Kriese (ZHdK) und Herbert Fritsch (Norwegian Theatre Academy) sowie im Rahmen von Ausstellungsprojekten für Künstler*innen wie Margot Pilz oder Stephan Lugbauer. Sie hat in diversen Kurzflmen mitgespielt von Michael Gülzow über Magdalena Chmielewska bis hin zu Cana Bilir-Meier, Liesa Kovacs und Lisa Kaeppler.
