Program

VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

        The project by Stefan Klampfer and Benjamin Zanon is an interdisciplinary exploration of drawing and sound, aimed at fostering open artistic exchange and collaborative practice. In addition to joint rehearsals, the artists exchange drawings by mail between Innsbruck and Vienna, where they reside. The connections between music and drawing include improvisation, open experimentation, and the possibility for intuitive decisions within a conceptual framework. Both sound and drawing can vary in their degree of abstraction.

        All jam sessions will be recorded, and the resulting material will be used to create a limited edition 12" vinyl record, which will be presented alongside the drawings in October.

        Benjamin Zanon

        *1981 Lienz/Osttirol
        Von 2001 bis 2004 studierte er Architektur an der technischen Universität in Wien, anschließend bis 2006 Philosophie an der Universität Wien. 2008 wechselte er nach Düsseldorf und begann dort das Studium der freien Kunst, Bildhauerei an der hiesigen Kunstakademie. Ab 2009 studierte er in der Klasse von Professor Richard Deacon, der ihn 2014 zum Meisterschüler ernannte. Im Februar 2015 schloss er das Studium mit dem Akademiebrief ab und übersiedelte dann nach Innsbruck, wo er seitdem lebt und arbeitet.
        2013 erhielt Zanon das Stipendium für Bildhauerei des MFI Essen, 2014 das Atelierstipendium im Künstlerhaus Paliano, ausgeschrieben vom Kulturamt des Landes Tirol (gemeinsam mit dem zeitgenössischen Komponisten Daniel Oliver Moser). 2015 erhielt er den Ewald Mataré Förderpreis, vom Kulturverein Meerbusch. 2017 erhielt er den Förderpreis des Landes Tirol für zeitgenössische Kunst, bezog ein Atelier im Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen und gestaltete einen 40 Seiten umfassenden Beitrag für das Quart, Heft für Kultur in Tirol (Ausgabe Nr.29). Seit April 2018 hat Zanon eine Stelle als Universitätsassistent am Studio 3 (Institut für experimentelle Architektur) an der Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck. 2019 erhält er den Preis für Grafk des Bundeslandes Oberösterreich. Arbeiten von Benjamin Zanon waren in Ausstellungen in Deutschland, Österreich und der Tschechischen Republik zu sehen.
