Program

VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

Before the Event

Angelika Wischermann
08.-18.04.2019

As a performance and installation artist, Angelika Wischermann relies on exhibition opportunities and funding to bring her projects to life. In the early stages of realizing an idea, she is immediately confronted with an overwhelming amount of paperwork. Wischermann begins by visualizing her concepts through sketches and drawings before moving on to the written development phase: summary concepts, detailed proposals, a motivational letter, a statement of intent, as well as schedules and budget estimates—all of which must be meticulously prepared. Each project requires a new folder that grows with each submission, as each application requires different documents and types of writing. Once the plan is finalized and feasibility tests are successful, she submits the project and waits anxiously for a response, eager to begin.

For ten days, the theater space transforms into an open studio and workspace, where Wischermann will continue to visualize and refine her ideas. Interested visitors are welcome to join her in the theater during this time.
