Program

VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

Der Rausch der Dinge

Klemens Kohlweis, Sven Jirka
29.09.-12.10.2025
Performance, Soundinstallation
BRUX / Freies Theater Innsbruck

Der Rausch der Dinge is rooted in an exploration of the invisible. As a material, air amounts to seemingly less than nothing. Yet, moving air within a space conjures audible sounds. This project examines our perception of moving air, beginning with the mechanical generation of wind using fans and the white noise produced by turbulent air currents. The gentle, steady hum of a room fan is perceived by many as calming, while the fans in our computers become a nuisance when they overheat. The sound of propellers carries us through the air and across the sea while the deafening roar of server farms powers our infrastructure and delivers cat videos to our phones.
The goal is to translate these turbulent currents into a phenomenological experience—making the invisible tangible as it moves through space, shaped by resonance and carried by sound.
Over the course of ten days, an aeroacoustics research facility will take shape within the premises of BRUX.

Klemens Kohlweis

Klemens Kohlweis is an artist and instrument maker. His work ranges from installations with computer-controlled organ pipes, hacked vacuum robots, industrial vibration motors, and 3D printers to the development of electronic musical instruments. In various constellations, he performs concerts with repurposed everyday objects.

Sven Jirka

Sven Jirka is interested in various aspects of everyday life. In addition to the field of painting, he is currently exploring questions that oscillate somewhere between the sound of an idea, the seams between two surfaces or constructions, and things almost discarded.
