Program

VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform that promotes process-oriented work across all disciplines and genres. It offers short-term opportunities for collaboration for both collectives and individual artists in search of new insights and contemporary forms of expression that engage with an interdisziplinary concept of art and science. The focus is on a movement that is curious, experimental, researching, and developing, that welcomes the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary. For exploratory trials of such nature, VORBRENNER provides the BRUX premises along with infrastructure and financial resources.

A Poem Should Be Read In Sequence

“A Poem Should Be Read in Sequence” takes the form of an assembly that conceptualizes a future exhibition of the same name. This exhibition remains in a state of anticipation; its realization is the design itself. Curated by two artists working in various media, such as photography, architecture, and language, the assembly invites an economic analysis of the exhibition. Informed by Roland Barthes’ “The Preparation of the Novel,” the exhibition’s preparation unfolds in an ongoing process on stage, never fully completed. Over three weeks, the assembly addresses and archives the current conditions of the exhibition and its daily progress by simulating the production process: simulation as a method for collectively crafting an exhibition. “A Poem Should Be Read in Sequence,” which will continue to evolve into the future, seeks to explore the possibilities when an exhibition steps away from established institutional norms and mechanisms and instead becomes a platform for collaborative creation. Through exchanges with artists, writers, and dancers, the Black Box of the Freies Theater Innsbruck will transform into a discursive stage.
